Kitterlin Creek Sold
UPDATE:
New information about the sale has revealed the buyer for the Kitterlin Creek property is not from LaSalle Parish, but instead from Texas.
In the press release sent by Bonnette Auction Company last night, it noted the purchaser was a “local buyer” but clarification of that statement noted the individual owns property in the Central Louisiana area, thus the language “local buyer” was used.
A detailed story about this sale will be in next week’s paper.
An announcement released last night by Bonnette Auction Company of Alexandria confirmed that a buyer has been secured for the Kitterlin Creek Bay property.
The property, comprising of approximately 4,000 acres, was listed for sale about a month ago with a deadline to submit bids of August 28.
Bonnette Auction Company noted in a press release Tuesday evening (after this week’s newspaper press deadline) that the purchaser is someone local but did not identify who the individual is.
“This property has always been more than land – it’s a legacy,” said Barbara Bonnette, auctioneer and owner. “We’re proud to have represented such an important holding and even more pleased that it will remain in the hands of someone who understands its value to the region.”
It was confirmed that the State of Louisiana, which had been working hard to secure funding to submit a bid to turn it into a state park and wildlife management area, was not the buyer.
Unless the buyer chooses to release their identity, the public will not know who the new owner of Kitterlin Creek Bay is until the deed is filed in the LaSalle Parish Clerk of Court’s Office in Jena. This won’t be until after the official closing of the sale and it is filed – a process which could take two to three weeks.
More information about the sale will be in next week’s Times-Signal newspaper.
