In my mind, I had written four different versions of this week’s editorial since the assassination of Charlie Kirk last Wednesday. As with all stages of grief, those versions went from denial to anger to eventually acceptance. I was familiar with Kirk and his popular debate sessions on college campuses as I’ve had them forwarded to me by several people over the last ten years, but to say I was a huge fan or knew all about him would be a lie. Like many older residents, it wasn’t until after he was killed that I really dove into his life to see what he was really about.
