Lady Tigers Hit Double-Digit Win Total

The Lady Tigers are now up to 11 wins on the season, something only ten other teams in all of Division IV Non-Select can say at this point in the season. With playoffs being the norm for the girls, they are looking to crack the Top 10 seeding hopefully before the post season starts and if this week was any indicator on how they will finish the season it would appear they are on the right track to do so. They faced some tough competition this week as their schedule included a three-game stretch with those three games being in a four-day stretch.

They started their week out against the Lady Warriors of Family Community Christian (#15 in class B) on January 13. The teams faced each other earlier this season in Winnsboro and La-Salle knew they had a tough matchup. However, the Lady Tigers were undaunted as they clashed in a very close game.

The game was back and forth and at any moment either team could take the momentum and run with it but neither team could form too big of a lead before the other answered back. In the end however the Lady Warriors outlasted the Lady Tigers in a 44-39 close one.

The ladies looked like they were back on track that Thursday, January 15, as they rebounded with their second highest point total on the season against the Downsville Lady Demons. The two faced off earlier in the season and LaSalle won that matchup 40-25. The Lady Tigers have gotten better since then and they doubled the Lady Demon point total as they won this matchup soundly 53-22. With a large win like this it is easy to get complacent, but they did not do so.

On Friday, January 16, they had the tough task of traveling to a hostile away environment facing the Dodson Lady Panthers (#16 Class C). When traveling to smaller schools they provide a unique and imposing environment, but the Lady Tigers weathered the storm. The girls won in a blowout in the last matchup, but it was clear from tip off this wasn’t the same team they faced earlier in the year. Although they put up a fight, Dodson’s efforts were not enough as the Lady Tigers outpaced them 48-41 as they are now on a two-game win streak.

The work continued this week for LaSalle’s girls as they host a familiar foe in Georgetown as they hosted the bulldogs at home on Monday, January 19 and then they face a very talented Calvin Lady Cougars (18-2, #3 in Class C) team who will provide an opportunity to climb up the rankings if they can knock them off on their homecoming game.

The ladies need your support as they make their playoff push and continue to proudly represent the community in their efforts. Please make the short drive and come watch some very good local girls hoops. Go Lady Tigers!
