Lady Tigers Ranked #2 After Strong Week

The LaSalle Lady Tigers proved they can compete with anyone during the last seven days, taking on three larger‑classification programs and coming away with two signature wins while showing plenty of fight in the other tough matchup against one of the best teams all classifications in the state.

With the great week of play, LaSalle now sits with a #2 ranking in Div. IV Non-Select, with district rival Logansport sitting in the #1 position. The showdown between these two top programs will take place early next week (March 24 in Logansport) and will surely be the feature game in all the state. Many predict the next time these two programs will meet will be on the fields at Sulphur during the state tournament.

Last week, the Lady Tigers traveled to Caldwell Parish on Monday, March 9, with the ladies breezing to a 17-1 victory over the 3A Lady Spartans. Dominant pitching and hitting allowed LaSalle to jump out to an early lead and never look back.

On Friday, March 13, the Lady Tigers welcomed another District 2-3A opponent to Olla as the Marksville Lady Tigers came to town. Although Caldwell is at the lower tier of that 3A district, Marksville is at the top portion.

However, the hometown Lady Tigers proved why they are ranked #2 in the state by winning the game 4–0 behind disciplined defense and timely hitting.

The Lady Tigers controlled the pace from the first pitch, keeping Marksville off the bases and capitalizing on scoring opportunities when they mattered most. It was a complete team effort and one of the most impressive wins of their season so far.

The Lady Tigers then stepped up another level in competition on Saturday, March 14, facing Tioga, a 4A powerhouse and Top‑10 team in Division I Select. LaSalle held their own throughout the contest, keeping the game tight before ultimately falling 6–3.

Despite the loss, the performance showcased the team’s resilience and ability to challenge elite programs. The combination of a dominant win over Caldwel, a shutout win over Marksville and a competitive showing against a much larger school, highlighted just how much this LaSalle team is growing and will continue to get better as the season goes on.

The Lady Tigers now turn their attention to a pivotal matchup against district rival St. Mary’s, a game that was played Tuesday of this week in Natchitoches. Head Coach Todd Long and the Lady Tigers know the challenge ahead as St. Mary’s enters the week as one of the top teams in Division IV Select (#6) and consistently fields one of the toughest away game atmospheres in all the division. With momentum from a strong week and confidence gained from facing high‑level opponents, LaSalle is poised for what should be one of the most exciting district games of the season.

If the Lady Tigers continue to play with the same toughness and execution they showed this week, they’ll remain the team to watch as the season progresses. Their willingness to take on any and all quality programs and compete with them both big and small speaks volumes about their potential moving forward.

Please come support the girls as they continue the quest to go back-to-back as state champions and continue to make the community proud doing so. If at all possible, make plans to travel to Logansport next Tuesday in what will be one of the most exciting games of the year.

Go Lady Tigers!
