Jena Giants Blow Out Vidalia

The Jena Giants’ bats got hot this past week as they had multiple games of putting up double digits on the scoreboard ending the week winning three and losing one.

On Monday, March 23, the Giants would travel to Delta Charter to take on the Storm. The Giants would score 18 runs on 9 hits to pick up an 18-6 victory.

Quinton Otwell led the charge with 4 hits and 6 RBIs. Trent Tingle had 2 hits and an RBI. Bryce Thompson would pick up the win as he pitched 3 innings only giving up 2 runs on 2 hits and finishing with 2 strikeouts.

On Tuesday, March 24, the Giants would travel to Vidalia to take on the Vikings in a big district matchup between the two teams. Vidalia would come into the game ranked #12 in the power rankings while Jena was ranked #16.

The Giants would get a big night from Kyler Chevallier who had 3 hits and 4 RBIs in the game.

Carson Willis would have 3 hits. Collin Jensen had an RBI double. The Giants would score 12 runs on 12 hits in the game and go on to win 121.

The Giants got an excellent pitching performance from Collin Jensen who pitched all 5 innings only giving up 1 run on 1 hit and striking out 6.

On Friday night, March 27, the Giants would once again have another great night at the plate as they would score 19 runs on 9 hits to defeat Ebarb 19-1. Bryce Thompson would pick up the win pitching 3 innings and only giving up 1 run on 3 hits.

On Saturday, March 28, the Giants would travel to West Ouachita. The Giants would lose 11-3. In the game, Collin Jensen had 3 hits and Jonas Jenkins had 2 hits.

The Giants are now 14-12 on the season and 1-2 in District 2-3A play. They are currently ranked #16 in the power rankings.

The Giants played at home Monday night against the 5A Pineville Rebels and on Tuesday, they were in Marksville to take on the Tigers in another district matchup.

Tomorrow, Thursday, April 2, the Giants will be at home to take on Benton and will be at Haughton on Saturday, April 4.
