LaSalle Tigers Get Big District Win

LaSalle Tigers Get Big District Win

LaSalle opened up last week with one of the most important games on their schedule: a district showdown against longtime rival Logansport. Road trips in rivalry games rarely come easy, but the Tigers made this one look almost clinical. Behind dominant pitching, airtight defense, and timely hitting, La-Salle shut out Logansport 8–0. It was the kind of performance that sets a tone for the rest of district play. The Tigers controlled the pace from the first pitch, never allowing Logansport to gain momentum, and walked off the field with a 8-0 win that could carry major postseason implications.

The Tigers accumulated 11 hits in the game. Leadoff hitter Luke Lasiter led LaSalle with four hits in four at bats and Jessey Stowe collected two hits in five at bats. Lasiter stepped on the hill first for LaSalle. The righty allowed zero hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out four and walking five. Freshman Hunter Boyd pitched one inning of no-run ball in relief. The righty gave up zero hits, striking out two and walking one.

Riding high from their district triumph, the Tigers stepped outside of district play to take on 2A Avoyelles. What followed was a back‑and‑forth battle that kept both dugouts on edge until the final out. LaSalle matched Avoyelles punch for punch, trading runs and refusing to back down. In the end, the Tigers fell just short in a 9–10 nail‑biter, a loss that stings but also shows how competitive this group can be against bigger programs.

Lane Burnham had a great game and collected four hits in four at bats against the Mustangs. Burnham singled in the second inning, the third inning, the fifth inning, and the sixth inning. The Tigers tallied 12 hits in the game.

Tuff Street in the seven hole led the way with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Hunter Boyd also collected two hits for in four at bats.

The boys have a busy week coming up as they play Castor on Monday (3/30) and get back into district play against Montgomery on Tuesday (3/31). The week will finish off with another larger opponent and an opportunity to gain some valuable power points against Bunkie this Thursday at home at 6:00 p.m.

The Tigers are staying in the Top 10 (currently ranked #9) and will continue the climb this week, but community support is crucial so please show up loud and proud as they continue their quest for Sulphur. Go Tigers!
