CPSO Love The Boot
Over 70 Jena Junior High School students in 6th-8th grades volunteered their time during Louisiana’s Love the Boot Week to pick up litter across their campus. Love the Boot Week is a concentrated effort each year where schools, families, youth groups, scouts and youth sports teams participate in the state’s largest litter cleanup and beautification project. This year was especially important, as the state prepared for the nation’s 250th birthday. The JJHS students picked up some 50 pounds of litter during their April 22 cleanup event.

The cleanup of the area was coordinated effort between the Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO), the Catahoula Correctional Center, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Teams worked throughout the day to remove litter, clear debris, and refresh the grounds of one of the parish’s outdoor spaces.
