Jonesville Celebrates Juneteenth

Despite the weather, Jonesville Mayor Loria Hollins noted the town’s annual Juneteenth celebration was a great success.

The mayor posted her comments on social media, praising the committee responsible for the celebration events and the flexibility with the weather conditions following the events held Saturday, June 20.

The following is her statement:

“What began as a stormy Saturday became a beautiful reminder of the resilience, unity, and spirit that make Jonesville such a special place to call home.

I want to personally thank the Jonesville Juneteenth Committee for their hard work, flexibility, and commitment to our community. When the weather forced changes to our plans, they adjusted with grace and determination, ensuring that the celebration continued while preserving the festive spirit and purpose of Juneteenth.

To our vendors and performers, thank you for braving the weather and continuing to support our community. Your dedication and willingness to adapt helped make this event possible.

To every parade participant who came out to celebrate our heritage, culture, and freedom despite the uncertainty, thank you for helping create an unforgettable experience for our residents and visitors.

And to all of the parade-goers, families, and supporters who came out after the storm, thank you for showing up and showing what community truly looks like. Your presence, enthusiasm, and support turned a rainy day into a celebration filled with joy, fellowship, and pride.

Juneteenth reminds us of the strength and perseverance of those who came before us. This year’s celebration reflected those same values. Even when conditions were less than ideal, our community came together, adapted, and moved forward.

I am proud of Jonesville. I am proud of the volunteers, the committee members, the vendors, the participants, and every resident who helped make this event a success.

Together, we showed that a storm cannot wash away our spirit.

Thank you for making the 2026 Jonesville Juneteenth Celebration one to remember.”

The children’s events and parade was held Friday evening, June 19, and all the other events were held Saturday, June 20.
