The Sound of the Screen Door
There’s something special about a squeaky screen door that hangs crookedly on a faded wooden frame and closes with a well announced ‘bang’. It’s a sacred symbol of past family and people togetherness — an icon of what could and maybe should be today. Anybody wearing more than a few decades of age can identify what appears to be a bygone relic as much more. The old screen door once stood valiantly as a guard against outside annoyances, and its presence was priceless.
