Jonesville native pens historical fiction, sci-fi and Cajun-flavored Shakespeare after decades in education

For most of his life, Dr. Thomas S. Smith, Sr. was in the business of teaching literature. Now retired after 33 years as a public school educator, the Jonesville native has spent the past several years writing it himself, self-publishing 13 books that draw on Louisiana history, folklore and his own sense of humor, even though none of them are set in his hometown.
