My Dad was a mechanic and worked hard and did not know what an eight-hour day was. But his routine was to come in and eat supper, bathe and then set down in the living room and read the paper. At ten PM we would watch the local news on channel eight on our big black and white television set. When the news went off everyone went to bed. My Dad died before there were the 24 hour news channels that we have today.
