It is easy to get used to a morning commute during the summer with no school buses or parents transporting children to and from school. Everything changes when school starts.Students flock to bus stops, waiting for that big yellow bus. The beginning of school is only a couple of weeks away. Sheriff Scott Franklin offers the following tips to get your child to andfrom school. Young children should be accompanied by their parents to the bus stop, wait with them and make sure the bus driver sees them. Teach them to stand three giant steps from the curb until the bus stops and board one at a time. Should your child have to cross the street to board the bus, have him/her, make eye contact with the driver and cross when the driver indicates it is safe. Make sure your child knows to look both ways before they cross. Watch for flashing red lights indicating that the bus will stop, and children will be boarding or gettingoff the bus.
