Jena Christmas Parade Winners Announced

The Jena Christmas Parade, held Friday night, December 8, was deemed a huge success by organizers and all who attended, with the main attraction being Santa Claus, shown above, who arrived at the end of the parade.

Parade Coordinator Mickey Cockerham said the success of the parade was due to the many volunteers, parade entries and those who attended.

“A big thank you to everyone who came out to this year’s Jena Christmas Parade,” Cockerham said. “We appreciate all those who put floats, etc., in the parade, the parade committee, judges, Jena Police Department, Jena Town Crew, Ace Hardware, Colonial Trials Committee, those who assisted in lining up the parade and many more who worked behind the scenes.”

Winners were announced via social media following the parade and include: FLOATS: First Place – Homeland Bank; Second Place – Fellowship Baptist Church; Third Place – Santa and Mrs. Claus.

PERFORMING UNITS: First Place – Fellowship Elementary School; Second Place – JHS Gold Dusters.

GOLF CARTS: First Place – Cherie Streetman; Second Place – 318 T-Shirt Bakery.

Photos from the parade will be featured in our Christmas issue next week, December 20, with many more on our website that same day.
