LaSalle Tigers Fall To 0-2 in District

The LaSalle Tiger basketball team has fallen to 0-2 in District 3-1A play this past week.

The Tigers opened district play with a trip to St. Mary’s followed by a home game versus Montgomery.

On Tuesday the Tigers traveled to St. Mary’s to open District 3-1A play against the Tigers of St. Mary’s. La-Salle had the tall task of taking on a team that made a quarterfinal run last year and had returns from all players on that team. St. Mary’s is currently holding the #5 ranking in the state in Division IV boys’ basketball. This LaSalle team never blinked at the task at hand. They laced up the sneakers and gave it one heck of an effort. Gabe Stott led the Tiger offense with 15 points and Sean Derr poured in 10 points. Rounding out the LaSalle scoring was Caiden Finley with 4 points, Tuff Street with 5 points and Noah Parham with 2 points. La-Salle fell in this game 79-36, but everyone knows that St. Mary’s is a very hard place to win.

On Friday night, the Tigers were able to stay home in front of a packed gym to take on Montgomery. Over the last few seasons, Montgomery has become a rival team for the Tigers. This is always a close, heated battle that usually comes down to scoring in the fourth quarter. This game was no different.

The Tigers held tough and kept this game close until cold shooting and fouls in the fourth quarter overtook LaSalle. Montgomery was able to pull out the win, but these Tigers hustled and poured everything into this game until the final horn.

LaSalle will continue District 3-1A play at Logansport this coming week before having a non-district game on Friday. Come out and cheer these guys on as they work tirelessly to make this school and community proud. Things are headed in the right direction for this team because they are willing to pay the price to be great. Hope to see you at the games.
