During the Centennial Cultural Center’s Science Camp held last week in Olla, youth ages 5-7 embarked on a week-long adventure filled with exciting experiments and hands-on activities.
Led by Charlene Richard and Prentiss Powell, the camp allowed the youth to explore different scientific themes, such as edible science, bubble science and physics and chemical reactions, through fun and engaging projects.
The campers made ice cream, bouncing bubbles, built catapults and Rube Goldberg machines and mixed various substances to create different chemical reactions.
The camp fostered curiosity and teamwork as the youth worked together to solve problems and share their discoveries. By the end of the week, the budding scientists had not only learned a lot about the world around them but also developed a deeper love for science.
CCC Director Donna Lindsey thanked Richard and Powell for conducting the camp and noted it was one of the most successful and exciting camps of the summer.
A special thanks was also extended to Jason Talley of Olla Monument for allowing campers to study the minerals found in a variety of granites which he provided.
