LaSalle Tigers Open District Play 4-0

The LaSalle Tigers have opened District 3-1A play with a 4-0 record. The Tigers have smashed Lakeview and Northwood-Lena in doubleheaders. They still have St. Mary’s, Logansport, and Montgomery left to play. These three teams will be ready for the Tigers in district play as they now know that LaSalle has rebuilt from last year’s team. These guys have bought in and are playing at a high level as district play is in full swing.

After a 17-9 win in Harrisonburg last week the Tigers dropped the return game in a high scoring affair on Friday, March 14. LaSalle’s bats were strong but not strong enough as the Tigers fell 18-12. LaSalle collected 10 hits as Harrisonburg collected 13.

Canaan Stowe had three hits in three at bats in the loss. Stowe hit a solo homerun in the sixth inning, singled in the second inning, and doubled in the first inning. LaSalle scored nine runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning. Tanner Dulaney singled, scoring one run, Wyatt King drew a walk, scoring one run, Kale Murphrey drew a walk scoring one run, Brady Tatum was hit by a pitch, driving in a run, Canaan Stowe singled scoring two runs, Jessey Stowe singled, scoring one run, and an error scored one run.

Tanner Dulaney pitched three and onethird innings in relief for LaSalle. The lefty allowed six hits and two runs, while striking out two and walking three. Kale Murphrey started the game for LaSalle. The righty surrendered two hits and three runs, while walking two.

LaSalle tallied 10 hits in the game. Canaan Stowe and Jessey Stowe each collected three hits for LaSalle. LaSalle had patience at the plate, amassing six walks for the game.

The Tigers will continue district play as they will travel to a 10-4 St. Mary’s team early in the week then host St. Mary’s on Thursday of this week. The Tigers will travel to Delta Charter on Monday, March 24, before playing two games against Logansport.

The Tigers are in great position to make a run at a district championship. Let’s pack the stands to cheer on these guys that are working so hard to make this community and school proud.

Hope to see you at the games.
